Remember when the mere idea of the Internet had the ability to strike awe in people? Here's a video report that first aired on CBC Prime Time News back on October of 1993. You may laugh now, but I'll bet that most of you had similar reactions when you first heard about this amazing network called "Internet".

I'm sure that the six of you that read this thing are wondering if The .:idzant:. Project has been cancelled. The answer is emphatically no. I apologize for the lack of updates (more than a month and a half since the last post ... sheesh!), but I've been knee-deep in another webdev project (I'll fill you in on the details at a later time) as well as a few work-related projects.

I'm not sure if the other webdev project is winding down or winding up, but either way, it looks like I have a short lull period that I can use to catch things up.

So, consider this post as notice of the resumption of regular operations here at The .:idzant:. Project, and may the geeks be with you...

Now, here's a guy with an interesting idea but a little too much time on his hands. He's created a page of games using nothing but web page buttons. You can play Asteroids, Pong, or a few of the other inventive games. There are a few button animations for you to check out too.

"The No-Contact Jacket is a wearable defensive jacket created to aid women in their struggle for protection from violence. When activated by the wearer, 80,000 volts of low amperage electric current pulses just below the surface shell of the entire jacket. This exo-electric armor prevents any person from unauthorized contact with the wearer's body. If an assailant were to grab hold of the wearer the high voltage shocking exterior would interrupt their neurological impulses which control voluntary muscle movement. The neuromuscular system would be overwhelmed causing disorientation and loss of balance to occur and of course pain. The pain experienced is non-lethal but is enough of a shock to effectively and immediately deter contact with her body and provide a critical life saving option for escape."

This thing is too cool! It runs off of a regular 9-volt battery and shocks are administered through switches in the palm coverings. The lining is fully insulated, so the person wearing the jacket will never feel a thing. What's even better is that this thing emits tiny arcs of electricity even when you're not laying down an electric smackdown. How cool is that?! Ladies, think about how much fun the No-Contact Jacket could be on the subway.
